Simmons is an Oscar-winning character actor whose booming voice and ability to play both intimidating authority figures and larger-than-life personalities have made him a favorite across the comic book, science-fiction, and fantasy worlds.
He became a genre icon as J. Jonah Jameson, the cigar-chomping, newspaper-bellowing editor of the Daily Bugle in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, a role he has reprised across Marvel’s animated projects and the MCU, including Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. He also crossed into DC as Commissioner James Gordon in Justice League, as well as in voices for characters such as Tenzin in The Legend of Korra, Ford Pines in Gravity Falls, and — perhaps most famously — Omni-Man in Amazon’s Invincible.
